The documents you need depend on your nationality and immigration route.
For EU / EEA students
- Minimum Age- 18+
- Valid passport or national ID, no visa required
- European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), or private health insurance
For non-EU / EEA students
- Minimum Age- 18+

Proof of financial funds
Non-visa-required nationals staying more than 6 months must show direct access to €6,665 at registration. Visa-required nationals show proof of funds as part of their visa application. See the official Irish Immigration financial requirements.
Realistic cost of living
Students should budget approximately €10,000–€12,000 per year for living costs, in addition to course fees. This covers accommodation, food, transport and personal spending. See Living Costs & Services for a detailed breakdown.
Working while you study, Stamp 2
- Up to 20 hours/week during term time
- Up to 40 hours/week only during 1 June–30 September and 15 December–15 January
- National minimum wage stated for January 2026: €14.30/hour
- You need a PPS Number before employment, apply via gov.ie
Registering with immigration
- Non-EU / EEA students studying more than 90 days must register their immigration permission
- Registration Office: 13–14 Burgh Quay, Dublin 2, book via the Digital Contact Centre
- Fee: €300, card only
- Bring your passport, completed address form, Stamp 2 supporting documents and registration fee
Commitment
Minimum 85% attendance is required throughout your course, in line with Irish immigration requirements for student visa holders.
