Summer is coming and today we’d like to point out some beautiful beaches near Dublin where you can go to enjoy a bright sunny day!
1. Portmarnock Beach
One of the most popular beaches in Dublin, Portmarnock is ideal for swimming and sunbathing due to it’s long and wide shoreline. It is a very picturesque location with clear views of the Dublin mountains and Howth Harbor. So stock up the cooler bag, grab the beach chairs and head on down to the golden coastline of Portmarnock.
2. Dollymount Strand
Dollymount strand, located just north of Dublin bay, is the closest beach to the city. The sandy shore stretches 3 miles long and you can find a chain of sand dunes bordering the eastern end of the beach. As Dollymount Strand is a very exposed beach it’s the perfect place for kite surfing.
3. Bray
Bray is often referred to has the “stony beach,” but most of the locals will admit it’s not a beach at all. However, that’s not to say that Bray’s Victorian promenade doesn’t have many purposes. It’s the ideal place for an evening stroll and the walkway is lined with traditional pubs and small dainty shops. In the summer the seafront becomes a concert venue with local acts performing during Bray’s Summerfest.
4. Skerries
No doubt every Irish kid has spent a hot summers day basking in the sun on Skerries beach. This beach has all the ingredients for a great day out, including amusements, promenade walks and playgrounds.The southern part of the beach is quite windy so if you’re not in the mood to get windswept then head to the northern end of the beach for some great family fun.
5. Killiney Beach
If you’re looking for a beach with a view, this is the one for you! Much like Bray, Killiney beach is also a stony beach, but it’s still suitable for swimming and bathing. Many well known sites such as the Dublin mountains and Bray head are visible from the shores. The best views of the beach can be seen from the DART train. As you round the corner from Dalkey station the views of the bay are simply breath-taking.
